What do you guys think of this HP I'm looking at? Seems like a really good computer to me for a decent price.

Unless you specifically need a laptop to take out places, get a PC.

This is really nice machine. I have very similar HP laptop. Never had any problems. Nice picture, big screen, integrated mic and camera, many outputs for various external things, great support - I am very happy with it.

That's a great laptop man, I think you will be pleased. 5400rpm HD is a little slow giving in respect that the rest of the machine is top notch - it will definitely be a slower of the whole PC. Other than that machine is really really good.

I think it's important to have a firewire port in a laptop because in that way you can add a firewire sound card like M-Audio Firewire 410 or 1810. I didn't see the specifications about the laptop but is something to have in mind. The notebook is cool, has a lot of ram and HD space but maybe you can check that out. This laptop has firewire port. I think every new generation laptop has one, that's why they don't even say that in specs. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

If you want mobility, you'll want a Acer Aspire One
Check it out I think that's the Linux version though. It comes with Windows XP as well, with 80gb harddrive. It's not good specs, but it's the best you get when it comes to mobility =) -------------------- GMC is not just a website... It's a lifestyle!

Seems like a very good lap top computer mate , should be more then sufficient for you! Regarding those small laptops like Asus eeePC and similar...Well they are cool , really mobile , battery lasts longer...Downside is that I can't get used to the typing on such a small keyboard and also for some things the screen can be too small..Other than that they are great and very interesting machines to have..But depends for what you are going to use them..

Definitely the G series mate. It does has a bit slower CPU, but has 7200 HD, and also a bit better GPU.
First one is probably oriented towards business people, where there isn't too much demand for hi speed HD. Second one is more attractive design for youths, specially mobile gamers, where all components must be balanced. And they are more balanced the the first one. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Vista is becoming more and more stable and compatible, so I think it is good to install it, specially on a new computer. Just make sure you install service pack and patches..
If you install 32bit you will use only 3GB that is true, so there's no point doing that for now, unless you really really need some external hardware or software that cannot work on 64bit, and who-knows when it will work. Slight chances for that tho... -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
