It really is a great Xmas album. It has become my favorite over the years since my girl Stacie turned me on to it.

Here is another one you may enjoy that features Stacie's Uncle Plas. A cool cat in your neck of the woods. cool.gif

Oh yeah, Plas Johnson is one of 'the' most recorded musicians in the world - any style, any genre, any era. If you heard a saxophone on a movie or TV soundtrack from the early 60s through the 80s it's better than 70% chance it was him. The main melody in the Pink Panther movies is him. Dirty Harry movies, Austin Powers, Good Fellas, some Peanuts movies - the list is endless. He was part of the legendary Wrecking Crew. He's done everything from Nat King Cole and Marvin Gaye to Frank Zappa and Steely Dan. And a ton of his own albums. 'Legend' would be the word.

He's your girl's uncle? Dude, that is cool! Get him to tell you stories.

You just made Stacie cry. She is homesick for her family. We are going to try and make it down there possibly next summer and I am excited and very nervous to meet him and the rest of the family that lives there in LA. We also have to try and get to New Orleans to visit some more of her family there.

Stacie is the daughter of Gwendolyn Johnson (RIP) who was also a legend in her own right having been a backup singer with a list of artists she has recorded with almost as long as her brother Plas including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke and Nat King Cole just to list a few.

Plas, Ray, and Gwendolyn Johnson all together left New Orleans for LA back in the 50's flat broke and looking for work in the music business and were among the first black contracted studio musicians to work in LA.

Stacie herself was signed with Motown in the late 60's when she was 11 or 12yrs old. Check it out!
She says Her Mother and Uncle Plas both recorded on the album as well.
