I've seen little to no gothic/doom metal lessons (Paradise Lost,Draconian,Etc.) so that would be nice and (Depending on which band its based off) easy for the more beginner guitarist.

Col you beat me too it, I was just gonna bump this thread myself smile.gif

We have some good suggestions here actually and of course Metal specifically Death Metal is leading them from what I can see. But we also have some who wish to see some composing and more beginner lessons as well. So please look through this thread and let us know what you want. As Col Roberts has stated we'd like to have this closed in the next couple of days so we can get the results post. This will hopefully show the instructors what stuff GMC'ers want to learn so please help us out as this can benefit us all.

Thanks for your co-operation folks you all rock \m/ smile.gif

i'd love to see some lessons for Salsa Rythms variations in classical style, the one with Gerardo Siere its awesome but we need more than one.

Also more detailed Bossa Nova rythm in slower tempo.

Just my 2 pesos.

More Southern Rock please biggrin.gif
..and more Rhythm guitar lessons in general smile.gif

Almost all lessons here are solo lessons, or a few bars rhythm style and then solo again.
We need some good rhythm lessons in many different styles smile.gif

+1 on the proccess of creating a songs,
the fact that we can play fast lvl 10 lessons and can do 200 bpm 16th triplets wont give us nothing if all we know is to go up and down a scale
i would like more lessons aout the process of creating a song, both instrumental and one that would include vocals.

More of the southern rock, mixing hard rock rhythm with solo!

Like Gabe's open chord rock rhythm and David's Southern Rock series!

I really like those rhythm+solo lessons. Doom metal lesson would also be nice, there isn't a single one in GMC if I am correct. I am unsure how much can songwriting be taught in GMC format, but there were some quite good attempts, so more of them would be welcomed also:)

Hi GMC'ers,

This is your chance to help identify lessons that GMC has very few of, or none at all. I'm looking at style categories rather than particular artists or bands. Some that I have identified are:

Folk Example
Folk Rock Example
Reggae Example
Country Rock Example
Country Blues Example
Rock Ballad Example
Celtic Example
Psychedelic Rock Example
Rock 'n Roll Example
Rockabilly Example
Southern Rock Example
Surf Example
Bossa Nova Example
Dance/Disco Example

Also, are there workshop lessons that you might consider helpful, for example, a modes workshop or an improvisation workshop. So give me your suggestions.

Please let me know what you want. The number of responses we get will determine what lessons you get.

I'm sure our talented GMC instructors will then be able to produce these lessons. This is a very good chance to broaden the choice of lessons for the GMC site, and ultimately, broaden your guitar knowledge and skills.

This thread will be open for TWO WEEKS only, and the results will be published in a follow-up post.

Thanks to Rokchik for her assistance with this, and to Kris for his enthusiasm for a poll to be conducted.

Some more rockabilly stuff would be nice too.

I will "second" the Rockabilly! (Brian Setzer!!)

Also.... FUNK, FUNK, and FUNK!! (New Mastersounds, Greyboy Allstars, Stanton Moore Trio)

And Jazz, and jazz-funk!! (Grant Green, Melvin Sparks, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell)

But let's not forget country either. (Jerry Reed, Vince Gill, Johnny Hilland, Albert Lee!!)

I can't help but laugh to see the Metal requests. Isn't it already a metal and new-school rock majority here? Sheesh....don't be so greedy!! tongue.gif
