Not that I know too, Ben will probably come along and explain, it's basically all about maths, this might help thoughhttps://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?s=&showtopic=61333&view=findpost&p=792911

The quick and dirty answer is to change how long each notes lasts. In Guitar pro, each note is assigned a value in terms of how long that note should last. You'll notice this section in your icons over on the left in guitar pro.

Attached Image

the first icon that looks like an O is a "whole note", this lasts for a count of 4 (one, two, three four)

The next one to the right is a half note. It lasts a count of 2.

The next one is a quarter note. Lasts for a count of 1.

Next up is a 16th note. I'm guessing you may not need this one or any of the other shorter ones at this point so lets just skip it for now.

Once you have put in your notes for a given bar, play it back. isolate which one sounds too short or too long. If the note is too short, select the icon to the left of the one selected. if it's too long, select the icon to the right of the one selected and then hit play.

This is a very rudimentary explanation of things but hopefully will get you started smile.gif

Yeah, I'd suggest taking a look at the link Phil posted. I just got home, but the essence is this. The "bad news" is that you probably do need to know some rhythm notation to tab out licks. The good news is that it's not that tricky and it will help you immensely in the long wrong.

Below the pictures I did a quick video demonstration. Hands and brain are cold from being out in the cold for 3 hours though, so bare with me on that smile.gif I didn't tab it exactly as I played it, but I think you get the idea. Otherwise feel free to ask any question you have.

Just want to point out that the tempo menu didn't show in the video, as it isn't set up for that for me in OBS, but it looks like this:

Also, I do use some short cuts in Guitar Pro. The minus and plus sign on the numpad will change to lower and higher rhythm values. You can of course also click them with your mouse as Todd showed.

Yup!!! You've condensed it down about as far as it will go here. well done on that! I was trying to give an even more basic answer, but I fear it may just be more confusing. The short answer is indeed no. One does need to understand basic concepts of musical time in order to notate musical time.
