Whats your price limit?
I can recommend peavy amps. this one is great. 409€ for an full tube amp is a good price. I have played the head only version in a local music store and it sounded awesome, especially for metal. If this amp is to loud you can try the peavey envoy 110 or the Bandit. Both use hybrid technology. I have the envoy 110. I even play with it live. You know what I'm recommending so I won't say anything...
I didn't understand if you've got a cabinet at home and one at rehearsal looking for a head? Either way, a few cool options that I'm interested in myself right here and right now. Not really the highest gain but goo denough for my taste. - Orange Rocker 30 - ENGL Screamer (Or Thunder which is a bit cheaper) - ENGL Ritche Blackmoore signature <--- Yummy! Not too cheap amps, except for the Thunder and not too expensive in a segment of GOOD amps. There's plenty of sound clips on the net and youtube... of various and sometimes doubtful quality. As usual. But you be the judge of it's enough gain in these. www.rocksolidamps.com has plenty on ENGL amps. -------------------- My bands homepage

Randall and Peavey have some nice metal combos, check them out. They are not expensive either.

I think you will not be dissapointed with that Randall. Be careful tho, it's pretty loud

I would also recommend randall , something like this : http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product...-Amp?sku=481686
You can always turn it down in your bedroom and should be loud enough for rehearsals/gigs. Great metal amp. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

I will try the same model you suggested bogdan but not the 80watt version. There is a 50 watt version which should be more than enough for my room. Of course mate ! I misunderstood your first post (thought you needed it for rehearsals too), 50wats is plenty of power (even for rehearsals and some gigs).Try it out, see if you like it -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

I would say 50W is plenty for rehearsals and gigs with a good PA system Zakk so definitely consider. So be wise and tryout a smaller model in a store on a bedroom volume and crank it. The difference is huge.
One thing that you may not like with this Randall is distortion - it sounds little digital on low bedroom volumes. And face it - you'll not getting in over 10 o clock in a room that's for sure. EDIT: Just reread your post mate, sorry for misunderstanding! This post has been edited by Ivan Milenkovic: Aug 28 2008, 12:30 AM -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Sorry I reread you post and saw that you wanted to choose 50W. I thought you were going to 80W version. Little confusion from my side.
I'm aware that you're aware about amps facts etc. Also may I suggest turning down volume a bit on rehearsals? It's not like drummer is beating harder than a 50W combo? Also if a bassist has a 600W rig that doesn't mean he have to crank it right? -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

If you want the true metal sound, ENGL is the solution. All famous metal players moved with this company. You don't need any effect, just plug in and ROCK.
