Lately I have been getting discouraged with my playing. I have decided to try to get into the mentoring program and get into some competitions to give me some extra encouragement. The problem is I dont have a webcam. I'm pretty broke being in college and all but I found LOGITECH QuickCam E3500 for a cheap price. Does anyone have any experience with this model? Any suggestions for a good cheap webcam?

I dont have any experience with that exact cam, but I have owned several logtitech cams, some good some bad.

Cheaper models have a higer latency and not such good image quality which can make things difficult for the veiwer. The more you spend the better it is for the veiwer. I have the logitech quickcam pro 9000 and its ideal for the purpose you need, only it is rather expensive so try to aim for the best you can afford smile.gif

Sorry im not much help, maybe someone else here has used this model smile.gif

This cam has what you need - 640x480 video at 30frame rate. but it is best to check in the store if it can really record that resolution with that framerate. If you have a chance the ideal thing would be to go into store, ask a guy to plug it on the PC, and try to record something in movie maker, then play it. If it does the job, buy it.

On paper this webcam has the necessary features(30 fps or slightly lower is a must for a smooth playback!)...You have to check it in what condition (resolution , light) webcam does capture this framerate (30fps) and if its acceptable (640x480) and salesman guarantees you that - get it! smile.gif

Generally most of the cams are fit for the job theoretically, but not in practice! Beware of this! I had series of cam buys resulted in unsatisfaction. What I suggest you to buy a Logitech 9000 Pro, as it is mentioned many times here, although it is a little pricey compared to your standart webcam this one does the job.

I used a very similar logitech cam for my first few lessons actually. Dont remember the modelname i had right now, but the specs of the E3500 is very similar.

It's not dv-cam quality, but with proper lighting you can get alot of use of this cam.

That seems like the best webcam around as most GMCers use it!
I would also recommend connecting camcorder (if you have one) to your computer, as it can also act as webcam with even better quality !
