Help!! I've broken my guitar neck yesterday!! the guitar fell on the floor and I heard a crack! (almost had a heart attack!)

The neck is broken from the middle, its an Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty (I think the neck is built in not attached like a fender)

Is there any way to fix it or is it destroyed???

Thx for ur help guys!

wow... sorry to hear that. Everything is fixable, at a price. So it depends what you're willing to spend. On an Epi it might not be worth it, you have to ask a tech to have a look at it.

The neck maybe can be mended. If it should be replaced there's another problem. It's glued in! They will have to destroy the glue binding, one method I've heard of is to spray a thin jet of rather high preassure water on the glue until it gives. That can take hours.

You should definitly check it up what it would cost to fix it!

That's what I thought, I'm ready to spend some money, I had it customized, so it cost me more than 900 euros overall,

I really love how it sounded, thanks for ur help anyway, I'm gonna have it looked at this week end,

So it should be fixable but it will cost me right?

Jeez man, bad luck there!

Yeah the gibbo family is a full tenon joint, god knows how much that'll cost you! But what is money compared to true love???
Can you claim on your household insurance? Somethimes these things are covered, dont know if you have any or what but its a thought!

May be you can glue it back together and sand/repaint the neck. But it would probably sound crappy afterwards. Fixing it properly would be an awful lot of work. Maybe even more work than rebuilding the guitar from scratch. So it might cost more than your 900€. Good luck!

Seriously though, i am so sorry to hear that.. i would definately check with your insurance company.. i bet it's possible.

if you are serious about having it fixed (or replace the whole neck), let somebody with killer skills do it..

Tough luck!

I wouldn't recommend to repair it (i know it sounds harsh) but I have played a Gibson les Paul with a broken neck that was repaired by a professional and it was really sad: The guitar worked again and everything but it somehow sounded diffrent then before, it lost some sustain and the tone also changed a bit, hard to describe. It was my friends guitar and I knew how it sounded before...

imho the (expensive) repair isn't worth the money to save an epiphone, knowing that it'll never really be the same again. I would take out all the parts you customized (if possible) like your Bareknuckle pups and put them in a new guitar!

Sorry to hear it man! sad.gif Like MickeM said, the cost may be really big, the best thing is to ask around with your local luthiers, and see for the price.

Thanks a lot for ur support guys!!

It is really terrible luck! I'm gonna see local Luthiers on saturday, see what they can do about it,

If it'll cost a lot, I'll probably buy a new one and install my current pickups on it,

I'll keep you posted on new developments,

Thanks again all!

Don't give up just yet. I've heard of numerous examples where Gibson Les Paul necks broke, in one case the neck even broke 2 times on the same guitar, was repaired each time and was ok! It can be repaired. Just make sure the guy who does it know what he's doing, then it will play and sound as great as before...
Obviously LesPauls has a weak spot at the neck close to the head, but yours broke in the middle?. I have no idea about the cost, but it depends on where it broke and how bad it is. Doesn't have to cost so much if you're lucky.
Pic would be nice...

Hopefully the 'Crack' that you heard may have been the Neck Joint becoming unglued rather than the neck splitting!!!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Hm, a luthier once told me that the glue that is typically used is stronger than the wood. But if it really was just the glue that broke he could just sand it down and reglue it.
