Following the success of being the "GOLDEN GOD" of guitar, for decades, with his massive tours with big name acts, he then put out his much awaited latest solo record PASSION AND WARFARE an it was huge. At this point, VAI could be forgiven for thinking that he was the "CHOSEN ONE". He talks about this interviews all the time. After having nothing but massive success for so long, he really started to believe his own press. All of it came crashing down though with the advent of Grunge which is where the documentary stops. This interview picks up the story. finally found it. After this reckoning, he changed his view on everything. He's been purely Vai ever since. Still a legend.
