Not at all like Guitar Pro.

The program is a speed trainer (hence the name).

It measures your speed, keeps track of it, and offers you several graded exercises.
The final goal is to be able to play the flight of the bumble bee at a blazing speed.

I have it, and it's great. smile.gif

Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.

I checked it out a while back, and I must admit it is very...minded on one thing - speed. That's all good, but I think there are better ways of approaching this.

The speed trainer program is centered around your personal speed profile.

The Speed Profile is divided into six categories:

  • Single
  • Double
  • Chromatic
  • Scale
  • Pattern
  • Random

The categories are handy, because it's easier to home in on your problem areas. smile.gif

The drills are made so that you after each run - starting from 40 bpm - evaluate your performance.
You have to choose between five grades: Effortless, Easy, Tiring, Broken, Impossible.

The ultimate goal is to have Effortless and Easy as much as possible. wink.gif

The program is a helper program, and that's it.

I find it quite useful, because it provides the drills and the bookkeeping tools for a structured speed quest.

That's what the program does.
And that's why I have it. laugh.gif

That's not the point.

The point is to train different things: single notes, two notes, patterns, scales, chromatic runs, etc.
And keep track of your progress.

If you do your own bookkeeping, then you don't need this program.

It's just a dumb helper program, that's all.

((So that you don't have to be)). dry.gif

Maybe I just can't read, but how does it work...?? I mean, how does it knows what is your speed? Do I need a microphone connected to my sound card? Will gear such as toneport GX/UX/other help in using this software?

You follow specific drills.
Each drill has a number of runs, each run increasing in tempo.
You evaluate your playing after each run.
It's all up to you and your honesty, because the program doesn't have ears. laugh.gif

Easy come, easy go. smile.gif

Forgot to mention that each run is run for as long as you like.
When you've had enough, you stop, evaluate and progress into the next run. wink.gif

But, yeah: some kind of guitar playing implant would be nice .. tongue.gif

Hmm ive had another look at the program, its been a while.

I actually think this is a good program for beginners wanting to "get their speed on".

I remember that metronome practise was boring back then so i think this would be suitable for those thinking "I want speed, but not tht metronome"

At intermediate level it doesn't have alot to offer- i just redid the profile and it was mostly effortless with easy level around 140 bpm.

So beginners- go for it!

Intermediate players...you know where the metronome is.....
