A new entry in to the "Entry Level" interface/soundcard market looks to be very very spiff. The FOCUSRITE SCARLETT SOLO!!!

For about $100 you can get the USB equipped SOLO with one XLR/combo jack. It also works with your mobile devices. For the money, I can't think of a better option.

I have had the 2i2 for over a year now and am very happy with it.

The entire Scarlett series is great IMHO smile.gif Any one of them is a great unit to have. I'm glad to see them making an entry level unit that is competitive on price terms with just about anything. Raises the bar for recordings in general smile.gif

It is cool to see this version of the audio interface.

What I have noticed that lacks on the market of audio interfaces is a high quality audio interface with only 1 input which could potentially allow for higher quality components and features for lower price. Usually, when you go up the scale the number of inputs increases.

I think there should be a market for folks that just want one input (to record a mic or guitar, one channel at the time) but in really high quality (like RME Babyface etc).

There is one product that comes to mind for that segment smile.gif The APOGEE ONE. Great mic pre, quality sound, one input, street price about $250.

Yeah - those look very interesting. It seems marketing is opening up in that direction? smile.gif
Even though I use Mac, I still do recording on Windows platform via bootcamp as I never made a switch.

Also it is very cool to see that iPad is becoming a viable device for music recording. This can be really useful to touring musicians who don't want to interrupt their songwriting flow or just musicians looking to compose in a new environment.

If you are using REAPER, then you can easily make the switch. But if you are using something more obscure, I would honestly suggest you look in to LOGIC PRO X as it's about $200 and one of the main reasons to own a MAC in the first place. There are only two reasons really smile.gif

1.)Final Cut

2.)Logic

everything else you can do in windows smile.gif
