I tried to add some vibrato on the ending bends, my fingers are hurting a little bit!! To be honest I cannot understand if my bends are good...Also, as I listened to Ben I noticed that his vibrato is more wide, but I did a normal one for better control...Should I try next time to add a wider vibrato?

Hi George,

Great to see you working with this lesson. It's a great lesson to take your playing to a new level. There are basically 3 elements that require attention:

- Vibrato: It's true that Ben's is wider, but even more important than that, it's more regular and the "vibration" is related to the backing's groove. You definitely need to work on this technique.

- Bending: Your bending is not reaching the correct pitch well. This happens on the first bend and also on the last ones at the end of the solo. You also need to put some work on this technique.

- Timing: Your timing is not bad but some licks but it can be tighter in the whole take. You tend to play a bit after the beat.

Besides this, there are some notes, mostly in the first seconds that are muted to early and this generates unwanted silences in your solo. Take care of it.

Hey George! You are really close with this one but a few things need tweaking. First of all...notes length - some of them are being cut too early - it creates a feeling of gaps in the solo - like 0:07.

At 0:20 i think this palm muting should be played harder to give a little longer sustain like in Ben's original lesson video

One of things I've observed (and you're not the only one with this thing happening) is a kind of economy picking that looks more like random picking. Basically economy picking has it's sense in particular situation but it affects the timming and tone if not controlled 100% perfectly. Being in your shoes I would review whole lesson and copy every single picking direction Ben does in the lesson. It all has a purpose. Ben mostly plays typical alternate picking. With those licks in makes sense for while you'll be playing. At your point you may make yourself some trouble if you won't start working on your picking direction managament/order.

Hi George, it's cool to see this lesson being played!

Ok, I think the most important thing to take care of right away is your accidental use of economy picking. Economy picking is where you use a sweeping motion to get to an adjacent string, instead of playing an alternating pick stroke. Economy picking is a very useful technique to know but you should know alternate picking first so you don't get confused.

There are some licks that work well with economy picking, and you could definitely use it for these licks like you do but there are also times on the guitar where only alternate picking will work - so it is important that you can make the distinction and be able to use AP.

This is the most important thing so focus mostly on this.

The other details can be worked on as well. I think some of the notes may be cut short if you are using a noise gate and your picking hand accidentally brushes the strings and cuts the note off. That sometimes happens to me if using guitar plugins rather than a real amp. Overall, very competent, good timing. Just nail alternate picking first!

By the way, don't worry about getting your vibrato as wide as mine just yet. It's good enough that you at least have vibrato! You can always increase your finger strength and make it wider over time but for now just use it and hone it as your own
