I think they can do that on GMC chat, I know they had a jam night. Since you all connect to the server instead of to each other it would offer more stability. Thus when you game and you can jump on a game with a dedicated server than another person who is hosting the game you can greatly reduce the lag.
So maybe a work around could be. Use skype to do the initial hey this is what were are doing see maybe the chords get some notes in get that worked out. Then when it goes to doing the actually jam see if you can cut the video off and still use the audio. That may help since lessen the lag response which may help you be more in sync. If not then you may need to pay for a server to basically host it or help you connect better like the GMC chat is. Because I've seen stuff on a place online that does online jamming and has been said to perform rather well it just sucks due to it costs like $100-USD for the full year per user. Hi Renan!
GMC video chat allows you to select audio input you wish to use. Its done by right clicking on your video and going to settings>audio and selecting your input there. So for example if you wish to use your external audio interface where you connect your guitar as sound source, you can. All the actual routing of the signal must be done via sound card that you use and some cards offer more and some lesson options there. Basically if you wish to have a backing track going on and your guitar, you need to mix those two and send them to input 1 for example. Then you would in GMC video chat select that input 1 as a sound source. I think that jamming online can be done if we count in for some things (this is general for any jamming platform online as there will always be latency) : * One person plays rhythm * One person plays solo From these two, usually the person playing Solo will be able to hear everything in sync. Person playing rhythm will hear the person playing solo with some latency as signal travels back and forth. If the rhythm played is pretty uniform, for example 1 chord vamp - the jam will probably feel to be in sync to both persons taking part. Having these limitations in mind - online jamming can be very fun!  I know Gabriel has organized some Jam Chat sessions, you should try to join one and see how it goes
