I'm often quite down on myself about my playing standard, usually because I am focused on practising things I can't yet do etc.
I took some time out the other day and listened to my clips on soundclou some things go back to 2003. After not having listened to them for some time I could appreciate what I had performed and could hear some bits that impressed me and made me think 'what did I do there!' The biggest take away was If I'd have put 10% more effort into each of the tracks, in terms of performance accuracy as well as production, they would be 100% better. Some of the pieces were demos which I never got around to doing proper versions of, and now I'd have to re-learn it all again as I have no idea what I played. Another take away I had, was how much more creative I was before I was married!  but that's a whole different discussion

I think you are quite a fine guitarist
 I've seen quite a few and you are doing quite well IMHO Solid technique, great progress, what more can one want? Took me 1o years just to work out how to pick properly! Your well on your way to where you want to be imho. I'd suggest, one thing. Playing more where you can get feedback. REC PROGRAM and my WEEKLY SHRED FREST. Doesn't have to be perfect. Just recording yourself is stressful enough, but it makes you better, putting your playing out there for critique is stressful, also makes you better, playing live is like being killed the first couple of times, but again, makes you better. Just practice alone won't do it imho. Got face the red light on the camera, and eventually the faces in the crowd. So join more recs, join my sunday challenge, and now and again play in front of folks and BAM. The red light is scarier than people, I've been playing and singing in front of people since I was 11!

Nice post and thinking. Sometimes we focus too much in our weakness and that's not a positive thing.

I'm the same as you, it's easy to be down on yourself when, like you say, your always learning stuff you can't play yet because you're always "failing" in some area of the piece. That's why it's good to join collabs, Todd's Shred Fest and things like the Creativity Workshop when/if it comes back.
I recently did what you've done and watched some of REC takes of mine and I was amazed at the difference. It's a really good thing to keep your recordings. It's all relative and it kind of 'never ends'.
