It appears today was a bad day for Kansas as tornado season fires up. I believe we have at least 2 members there, jstcrsn and fkalich. Saying a prayer for them and everyone else there that they are all OK. Hope you guys are all alright. I spent some years living in tornado alley myself so I know how spooky it can get this time of year.

Glad you guys made it through alright. I lived in Wichita Falls, TX In 79 when an F5 went through there. Fortunately, our part of the city wasn't in the path. We and some of our neighbors rode it out in our storm shelter that was in our backyard.

when I first moved here from southern California people would always ask , and 'tell' me how scary earthquakes are and my inner thoughts were most of the time people don't even die from quakes whilst a tornado will rip you house off the face of the earth you foolish people.
I live in a small town close to andover so this is the closest I have been , they are scary , and the ominous cloud structures around the area are cool , but, you think to yourself 'this can't be good' , the clouds look like all those end of the world movies and they get very green

Believe it or not, I actually used to enjoy this time of year when I lived in TX and the storms would build and roll through with heavy rain, hail, lightning and thunder and high winds. And even though they always brought the threat of tornadoes, I would usually sleep like a baby at night during those storms. It usually wasn't until those warning sirens actually went off that I would start worrying. I still miss that kind of thing even after being away from it for so long.
Now I live on the Ring of Fire where the threat of earthquakes and even volcanoes to a lesser extent is the thing. The scary thing about earthquakes is that there is no specific season for it and they happen with no warning since they are largely unpredictable. I think it maybe has been more spooky because of that, especially after going through one in 2017 where I thought for sure that my house was going to come crashing down at any moment from the shaking.
Since then we have been kind of shell shocked, and every time the earth begins to shake, we are now more likely to get spooked than before when most of what we experienced was mostly small tremblers.
