I've wanted a Fender Tele for a long time, but didn't like the headstock and If I got one I wanted it to be a newer looking model with a Strat headstock. But I love the way a Tele feels.

Well - this showed up in my Facebook feed yesterday and I purchased it within 15 minutes of seeing it - those FaceBook marketing intelligence officers own my ass, I can't tell you how many shoes I've bought because of FaceBook ads.

Anyway - my first Fender!!!

Fender Jim Root Jazzmaster - Flat Black with Ebony Fingerboard
Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Neck, Ebony Fingerboard, and 2 EMG Active Humbucking Pickups - Flat Black

Not what you would call standard but exactly the type of "vintage" I like.

Super congrats! It's not very "tele" as far as teles go, but I'm not a purist so that's fine by me smile.gif It's more along the line of what kurt kobain used to do, put humbuckers in a fender mustang, kind of thing, in terms of the body. Does the neck feel "tele"?

It's a very JIM ROOT guitar which makes sense as it was built for him smile.gif So it's got bits of vintage mixed with bits of scary smile.gif

Yea that's what I like - even if I found a vintage Tele that I liked I'd still change out the pickups. What really excited me was him saying the neck feels like a strat. I used to hate strats because I had played one, but it was evidently a piece of shit even though it was a beautiful looking American made one. That is what confused me, I hated the way the neck felt.

The same friend sold that strat and about 4/5 years ago purchased another American made one and this thing is a beauty. The neck feels incredible and the sound is so glassy. If I were a good soloist I would love it, but being more of a heavy rhythm guy I need my humbuckers.

So this combines the killer look of a vintage Jazzmaster, strat headstock, strat neck, 2 active hum buckers and smashes that all together with my bromance for Jim Root.
