Currently I'm playing this nice solo from Carlos Carrillo:
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...dic-solo-in-gm/ The issue is when I play it with high gain, it's not forgiving even a smallest touch of a neghbour string How to train a clean play of such solo, if it has so many vibratos? Here's how it goes for me |

Here's how it goes for me The main problem is the fact that we can't see your right hand in the video. This makes it impossible for us to give you objective feedback. But I will give you some general advice. First of all, we always use both hands for muting. The right hand - besides the normal position for muting, when you play on higher strings, rest your thumb finger on the lower strings to mute them. The left hand - use the bottom part of your left index finger, to mute all the strings below the ones you play. Looking at your video, the way you make the bends caught my attention. To control this technique, you need a solid point for your hand. That's why, your hand should always have contact with the bottom of the neck. Without a solid point to hook the guitar, the strings will push your fingers away with all your hand. You need to use your wrist to make the bending motion. This is what will give you strength and control. The fingers are just levers. Here you can see the difference between your hand and the instructor's hand (I made the capture on the same bend). |

Hello,
Here are some tips for muting the other strings. I'm sure you'll get something from these. It takes time but you will get there. It will eventually become instinct with practise. Have fun This link will take you straight into the middle of an interview with Paul where he is demonstrating to The Captain (Andertons) how to mute. https://youtu.be/1PxX7plLKIc?t=1965 https://youtu.be/53yX_0XnZrc https://youtu.be/MJ12fqCRreI https://youtu.be/1yVVq40ThGU This post has been edited by Phil66: Mar 21 2023, 09:37 PM -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Thanks! If to learn from someone, why not from Paul Thanks for the links. No worries, laft hand muting is often neglected meaning you have to be very rigid with your right hand. The last video isn't Paul Gilbert though, it's Paul Davids so yes it's a Paul, but not the same one -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Now, here comes the question: how to execute this during vibratos and bends? https://youtu.be/DnHS5BRn5Hg -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight.
