I never learned the actual solo even though Gilmour is a huge influence on my style. I never really learn many songs, to be honest, but more so study the styles of players or what they do. I was reading along with the tab/sheet here. Of course I've heard the solo before, so I did know it beforehand. Went into free improv later on. Some bends are off, but it happens when you neglect guitar a bit much for a while rolleyes.gif

Thank you, Todd! Whenever I've watched David Gilmour play it live he has improvised around the lines in the original, so I felt no shame in not playing it note for note. It's a nice enough exercise to look at the notation/tabs and sight read it.

Thank you, Monica smile.gif This is probably the style of soloing I enjoy the most. I don't intend to learn the solo note for note, but playing around with some of the lines Gilmour played is nice. He seems to do the same when playing his songs live. Some of the solos aren't note for note, but they keep the flavor and some of the lines, and that's the approach I've always preferred.
