Im not sure what to do here. I pick the guitar up, and just picking it up makes everything not feel "right". The sound that comes out isnt right or anything. What I hear In my head I play on the guitar exactly and it still doesnt feel right. I could play a simple riff like smoke on the water, or play some Trivium, and nothing feels "right" anymore about my setup. Could it be me just losing inspiration or is it like time to change the gear up? Im confused, so please help anyway you can.

Well I had that feeling few times before..I find that its all in our mind and depends on our mood when we play...Sometimes guitar would sound and feel better and sometimes it would sound really bad (subjectively in my mind)..Just take a break , watch a cool concert or something...Also if you have that feeling all the time , you may want to try out some new guitars etc to see if you hear them sounding "right"..Sometimes simple strings change should do the trick..

Yeah, see I dont think its the inspiration, cause I just hear someone play and I want to pick the guitar up pretty badly. I guess I have been hittin hard this past month on guitar. Maybe I should give it a break, and check out other guitars or something. Thanks man

Yeah man, definitely take a break a day or two. This is completely normal, and I also have these moments sometimes, specially after some long and hard sessions. One time I even thought that somebody changed the strings on my guitar, that's how much I lost the feel! laugh.gif

A break will do WONDERS for you, my friend. about a year ago, i felt this way, but to the point i just HATED the guitar, and so i just stopped playing, and 3 weeks later, i was ready to play again, and more motivated then ever.
Try it. it works.

Yeah, ive been hitting it real hard. I just lost my job a while back, so ive had lots of free time. Pretty much been playin the geetar for 10 hrs a day, or more, fingers are gettin a lil raw (lol), Ill for sure take a lil break, but its hard guitar is addicting like cigarettes, or any drugs.

i have days where i will do exersizes and go to jam and just think everything i play sounds absolutly awful. i get really mad at myself for not knowing more songs and i just generally freak out about how bad i am at guitar. A few hours break a coffee and adding some delay and just chilling out for a while usually makes everything better. Or just playing a familiar song really well.. just nail that song then get back to learning smile.gif

Timeless masterpiece! NOLA FTW! cool.gif

Yea, sometimes I'm just not on, this is usually when I fail to do my warm up... So invest some time in coming up with your own unique warm up to get your unique hands on the same page. Also during long sessions my hands tend to accumulate lactic acid, stretching, and playing something out of m usuall helps this.

that might give you extra boost as well. smile.gif
