Grabbed me right from the start, then the vocals started and it kinda lost my interest. She has talent and range to be sure, but imho doesn't match up with the riff/backing somehow. Whaddya think?

yeah, I would go along with your assessment smile.gif great sounding riffs. Im not overly keen on the vocal melody. She has a good voice for sure though.
I do like how they are all wearing black in the video though, literally every item of clothing that each member is wearing is black, Im all for that biggrin.gif

Yeah the singing sounds like it has been pulled from a pop song.

Sounds good to me. At least it's not some incoherent growling and grunting. That kind of stuff gets the gong from me most every time.

I don't mind the clean singing smile.gif As RICH mentioned, there is a bit too much scream and growl going on in Metal just now. It's just that her voice is almost not being pushed enough. Doesn't sound urgent or aggressive, as the riff seems to call for.

Nice comment as yeah the overall "sound" is very pop-like.

The recording seems good actually (guitar tones etc.) but this is a good example as how the mix stage of production can effect the feel of a song.

Very true smile.gif It's great to start with IMHO, but when everyone comes in, it goes a bit dull. Even something simple, like doubling the vocal tracks, or adding some delay, etc. could have really helped IMHO. I dig the guitar tone in the start, but it gets a bit lost under the vocal due to the "pop" vocals front, mix. So it starts out sounding like Metal, then shifts to Baby Metal when the singing starts. sad.gif

Agree...had the same feeling. It was like a vocal is at different energy level than the band smile.gif Technicalyl proper vocal but...I guess I would put it in a different arrange.
