i was just sat there for a moment looking at my pod x3 live, then i cam up with an idea, would it work if i just plugged it straight into a cab? or would it need more output power or whatnot? because it would be pretty awesome if i can just play on the pod without headphones or the change in tone from a slave amp.

soo would it work? or not?:S

thanks
kevin

Does the X3 have a pre-amp? With my Toneport, it does'nt so I can't just plug into my cab. One of the reasons I bought powered studio monitors.

well you have to have a power amp in order to drive those cabs...And I guess you can use that pod as pre amp though..

You need a pre amp totally. My friend plays a pod through a cab with a power amp - sounds amazing!

I don't have a POD X3 but I have a POD XT Live and you can use it as it was a Preamp + Multiefects (actually that's exactly what it is tongue.gif). But if you want to send the sound to a cabinet you'll need a POWERAMP because if you don't do thi the volume will not be as loder as necesary. Poweramp is what amplifies the sound.

Definitely need a poweramp in between the pod and the cab. VHT makes great poweramps, also Marshall and Mesa, if you think of buying one, check those out smile.gif

You'll need a power amp to drive the speakers.
