Here I was struggling along trying to teach myself Pedal Steel Guitar, thinking I might need to find someone online that gives lessons.

Today I put an wanted ad on the British Steelies forum for a volume pedal, as I don't think my Moog Expression pedal is a good chassis size for pedal steel.
An Irish guy responded to me and we had a phone call where he mentions a few guys get together once a month to play and learn from each other in a town 30 mins from me! So I've got an invite to the next one.

Now I definitely have to start practicing and getting something together for the next meet up!

Brilliant, I'd love to find a monthly or weekly guitar jamming club locally, one of those where there are no egos and everyone helps each other out.

Nothing cooking though sad.gif

That's awesome, man. Sounds promising. I hope you can get a lot out of it and have a great time too.

Very cool to hear man. Maybe you can use it in a collab and show is what you learned. That would be awesome 😎

That's awesome!! It's great that there is a group close by! At some point it would be great if you could record a bit of a jam on your cell phone just so we can see how it's going?

Finding a guitar jam without egos is tough.

I've found (apart from here) most guitar groups can get toxic. Playing mandolin and now pedal steel, the communities are very different and everyone is eager to help. The Steel Guitar forum for example has most of the industry pros and legends on it and accessible to ask questions to. The Gear Page has run off most industry pros apart from the very thick skinned, like Pete Thorn.

I have to agree. I finally just gave up on 7string.org for example. So many gear/guitar sites and even facebook groups can quickly get toxic and are just not worth the effort. That's one of the great things about GMC is that it's actually a positive community which is very hard to find. I'm glad you found some cool folks to jam with!
