Hi!

I saw this cool video from Paul Davids and wanted to share it. I think this video is a good reminder that we don't need very expensive gear but most of the tone comes from the fingers.

I had a discussion with a producer / studio owner here in Stockholm and I didn't manage to hide my surprise when he spoke about all the expensive analog gear he had / was looking to buy.

For me personally, having a good guitar day and nailing the perfect take makes all the difference. And I am pretty sure I could go down to $99 and still get good results when circumstances are right.

However if you are going to record a pro band who've already perfected their performance you'd obviously want to catch their tones on best possible gear.

But then again, I think even a pro band would rather have Bob Rock as a producer with cheap gear than an amateur producer in a top dollar studio. A generous recording schedule might also compensate for cheap gear.

So.. I guess the devil is in 'the feeling' 😎
