Intro Video - "you Ready...?", A humble suggestion

Hi all, I'd like to make a humble suggestion for a minor change to the site.

I often have my speakers up loud when I am working, listen to music and everytime I hit www.guitarmasterclass.net, I get "You ready?!!!!..." blasting out through the speakers, and I have to rush to scroll down and pause that video.

My humble suggestion is to put an option somewhere to not autoplay that video. Or maybe set a cookie so that it doesn't display after visiting the site 10 times.

It was pretty cool the first time I hit the site, and the second, and the third. But after having heard it 200 times, you know, it's starting to get a little irritating.

Please understand, this may be my first post and it is criticism, but it's the only one I have. My praise for the site is loud by its absence.

thanks!

m

I think if you set it up to where you are logged in all the time the intro video doesn't play when you get on to the site. At least it doesn't on my computer. If I log out when I get off my computer and then go back to GMC the intro video plays again. Try this. I know what you mean though. I have gotten up in the middle of the night a couple times and about gave my wife a heart attack from the video coming on laugh.gif laugh.gif

If you have cookies enabled in your browser the intro video should only play the first two times you visit the site! smile.gif

If you can't make it work in your current browser - visit gmc with another browser and hit F5 (refresh) twice - and you should no longer see the video.

wow - fast replies!!!

Thanks all, and I am at fault here. I use firefox's cookie control system and I had hit "allow for session" for this site some time ago, so I was getting logged out on closing the browser. I have corrected that now and it's all good. - ok time to get back to some rock n roll..

thanks again!!

Would it be possible to make the opening video not play automatically, though? It just seems like it would be very annoying, even to new visitors, to open the site and be somewhat assaulted by the site. laugh.gif And as for the regular users of this site, they get to hear it every time they open it up on a different computer... which wouldn't be such a problem if I ever remember to make sure the volume isn't up full blast!

Don't get me wrong, the intro video is a great feature, but (from my point of view, anyways) it would be much more useful if you had to click it to play! Anyways, just throwing it out there. smile.gif

You can right click on the video when it's playing and click on the check mark (option) for play video. That will take care of it unless you delete your cookies at some point. Then you will have to follow this process again.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

I'm the opposite. I clear my cache just so I can hear it. I'm pretty sure the only reason I signed up was the fact that intro made me go "Holy Crap, I want to be like that guy! Just much better looking...."

Good suggestion ! I was unfortunate enough to be on a hotel computer with no volume adjustment controls, with volume set on maximum, when accessing the site ! biggrin.gif Kind of annoying ! biggrin.gif When you're are at home, you could just put it on mute tongue.gif
