The iconic Abbey Road studios has been put up for sale by EMI and may no longer run as a recording and mastering studio see this report from the Beeb here.
Just as a quick addendum - I can also very quickly think of three major mastering studios that have closed in the last five years. At least one of which was sold because the owners decided they wanted the quick return on the real estate value of the property even though it was a successful business. Just imagine a GMC studio, where we can all publish our records...since we learn how to write and arrange songs here. I would absolutely donate for that!

It was reported on the BBC this morning that 'THE NATIONAL TRUST' here may be interested in saving the Studio!!

It would be too bad if they closed and shutdown the studio, they should turn it into museum or something.
