Notes On The Fretboard

So I noticed people asking about learning notes on the fretboard (or how etc)... I have a lot of difficulty normally learning sequences just straight from a book: this note is here, this is here etc; I find that playing the note helps (not only train my ear) but also helps me memorise what the note is.

So I made a guitar pro file with the notes A, A#, B, C etc....

which you can even then use the loop trainer to learn where all the A's are, then A#'s etc...

(lemme know if I missed anything)

I hope it helps someone at least smile.gif

thats cool, cheers for that...
The way i learnt all my notes was to firstly remember open to 12 on the low E and A strings, then pictured the octave positions, 2 frets and 2 strings up on the D and G. Of course the top string is E also, so that just left the B string...

I try to learn the notes by playing them and singing them at the same time.
That way, you will not only know where the note is, but will also remember how it sounds.

Thanks!

I'm really lazy when it comes to memorizing fretboard notes, I know my scale patterns but I really have to learn which notes I'm actually playing. I need to do it, but I always find something more entertaining to do with my guitar laugh.gif

I'll try this file smile.gif

Good work man! smile.gif Its best to sing out notes while you play in order to do some ear training while you are at it and to connect pitches to actual note names.

Yeah I've actually found the same.... so by looping through A's I know I'm playing all A's... then singing and playing == ear training as well as position training I've found smile.gif

This is very useful, I used similar method when I was learning the notes on the fretboard years ago, and it definitely works.
