Check where it breaks, if there's something sharp that could wear it and cut it there.

You should polish the frets possibly. BTW, I also broke not 2 but 3 high E strings (guess what - 10-46 Elixir), and stopped using them. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

its a month old. are you telling me that the life expectancy of a string? Generally , you should change strings at least once per month , depends how much you play even once a week. -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

Generally , you should change strings at least once per month , depends how much you play even once a week. I have my first set of coated Elixir's on and they stay fresh for a lot longer than normal strings. I've had mine for three months now and they still sound teriffic, not dead like normal strings would. They are expensive but seem to last longer. I have only played a couple times per week so it's not extremely many hours run into them though. -------------------- My bands homepage

I have only played a couple times per week so it's not extremely many hours run into them though. Oh yeah with Elixirs that period of change prolongs because of special coating...But I don't know, maybe changing more often with cheaper strings sounds like better solution to me. From cheaper strings ,I would recommend trying out Ernie Ball strings. They are very good! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

The thing is, when you are playing at home, one set of Elixir can last a long time, and it's perfectly normal not to change them for couple of months (depending on the playing time) - they should be good. BUT Elixir strings are just like any other string underneath the coating - they will stretch and loose good sound and tuning properties after a while.
One thing tho - Elixirs should last more than one month, so this could be something with the guitar or couple of faulty sets. I suggest you try some other brand, and if you still experience breakage, then it's the guitar. Does the color stay on or it dissolves ? This post has been edited by Bogdan Radovic: Apr 30 2009, 10:37 PM -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net
