Gmc Radio Options

When we have completed the playlist for the community tracks, it should be fairly easy to parse (convert) it into a itunes/spotify friendly XML file.

I am certainly not against the idea but I do not believe it will give us any new listeners, I think it will be the GMC community (and possibly their friends) - and therefore I think the forum is best place for this. And getting us up elsewhere might be desirable but not a priority.

Given that even the biggest pop artists today need extensive marketing to sell music, I don't think we can market a website through music (alone).

I gotta gree with this, as nice as it would be to have some of these on Spotify I don't think it would bring many new users for instance. I am happy to see some ads for GMC again. That was how I found this place back around 2008.

I don't know how things would work with spotify/itunes but it would be nice to at-least make a similar player/playlist for those too so to reach them we won't have to find the corresponding lesson.

Agreed! Making use of the backing track archive somehow is on the to-do list. Since our backing tracks have pretty good tagging (key, bpm, related scales, related tags/artists/genres etc) I think some kind of jam machine could be cool!

That's brilliant Kris, just needs a way to minimise it somewhere, I have looked on pc but on my android tablet it's a little bit in the way.

Going to be very interesting seeing this develop.

Let me quote myself, as I just had a talk with Todd, and maybe I kinda "agreed" with the wrong part of a post. I agree that it will likely only be GMC and friends finding us on Spotify, but it could possibly bring in some people of course - and maybe it would be worth it due to the small cost of putting something on Spotify these days. I don't know how tricky it is though.

I take it as collab. player will set the platform (development and testing) and once thats done GMC-backingtrack should work much better for promotional. When that proves successful enough to be heard on the internet, it can serve as pre-promoting Spotify/itunes etc. but that likely will take time.

I'm noticing high view counts on spotify when I search "backing tracks" but just like a music album, an upload to spotify without some level of promotion won't bring high view counts. Backing-tracks has good value for a while now, "ultimate-guitar" bought "https://www.guitarbackingtrack.com" a few years ago for good sum of money yet the music quality in there are cheap midi sounds, Most GMC backing tracks to me has much higher potential.

I don't think it's a missed opportunity since we have not excluded it. For this to happen, imo we first need to

* implement the new player (the current forum does not provide any good options for this)

* finish the first GMC playlist

* convert that playlist into itunes / spotify podcast xml. This is much easier than it sounds and if you want to speed it up you can help us with it, it's just a matter of listing the tracks in this format:

My bad I misunderstood. I think I get it now. We do plan on making it bigger and better and more shared as we go. I"m looking at the format that you shared and trying to understand it. Anyone here good with this sort of thing?

I went and shared our radio link on several of the guitar groups Im in on FACEBOOK. Everyone else, share this on your social media The more awareness we can raise, the better! The world needs the positive influence of GMC!!!
