Would it be possible to make the iPad your only computer for guitar-related stuff?

There's a GuitarPro app for the iPad.
There's Amplitude for effects.
Is there software for multi-track recording?
With the iPad2, you could record video. Could you later sync it to something you recorded in the multi-track recording software?

I guess it would be possible, but I doubt it would be fast enough. How much RAM does an iPad have? I doubt it would be strong enough to handle multitrack recording, and it would probably be easier on a laptop.

I believe Ipad similar products is the future of the consumer marked, but PCs and Macs for work (work ranging from audio, video, drawing, 3D modeling, animation, office work etc).

Yep, the iPad 2 has a dual core processor and half a gig of RAM, so it's still not powerful enough.

Multitrack? Possibly Reaper. But what kind of audio card does iPad have?

the new mobile processor are opening some new doors for guitar players and musicians, but maybe thats a little bit too much for an ipad now even with the a5 processor, i think we need a few years more to get there.

Believe it or not, you could actually use the iPad2 as your only device if you really wanted to. It now has support for GARAGE BAND which means multi track recording, mixing, and full guitar emulation. So if you bought the IK Multimedia iRig for input, you could use just the Ipad2 for recording/mixing/etc and do it all "in the box". However, this would be mostly for portability so maybe if you were on the road or what not.

Still, it's fairly underpowered compared to even the weakest Apple laptop and you can't run all the plugins you normally might use without gutting the thing. So you could probably do it, but at this point it's more of a novelty than a stand alone production tool. Here's more info on GARAGE BAND for iPAD2

http://www.apple.com/ipad/from-the-app-store/garageband.html

And here is the video about it. It's still pretty amazing even with the limitations.

That said, I have seen a great new device from ALESIS which finally gives the ipad pro IO including midi, xlr, phantom power, etc. This turns it in to a real device you can use along with your other gear in any studio. It makes a great addition as a controller/interface etc. Several apps for controlling your mix session, plugins, etc.

Yes that Garage band app seems to be working great! You should be able to use it for simple stuff (for example recording REC videos etc etc). I'm sure it will work multitrack well too - as long as its not too complicated and demanding on plugins.
