I learned the hard way about not having extra strings.

First time I broke one I had no replacements and there is no guitar retailer where I live. Had to order online and it took forever. I now always have at least 5-10 packs of extra strings for my electric and acoustic.

Yup me too, when ever I see my regular strings as a bargain on ebay I buy a few sets, I`m always gunna need them, I change my strings on a fairly regular basis anyways (at least once a month) so I rarely actually break strings.

Yeah it's quite annoying not having a shop near. The closest one for me is a 2 hr plane ride away so I always make sure I'm well stock with the accessories I might need. Strings, picks, cleaner etc. When I do get to a store I'm usually dropping a bit of coin stocking up smile.gif

Oh my, the first string i've ever broken was the high e when i wanted to tune my guitar years ago for the first time... blink.gif does this mean i was a looser already?? unsure.gif

oh well, i had to deal with a floyd rose, so when i was still messing with the bass strings the high e suddenly got to much tension on it and that's what happened. otherwise i have to change the whole set every month, which is a pain in the neck with a floyd rose. at least when i'm not using elixir strings biggrin.gif cool.gif

No that means quite opposite man! smile.gif Well floyd rose can be a bother but its cool you had the opportunity to learn how to restring that guitar from the very start of your guitar journey..

I recommend using GHS Fast Fret conditioner to prolongue strings life so you don't need to change them so often..Really brings back the bright sound..One trick I discovered with it : apply the conditioner to strings at night and do not wipe off the excess !! (as it says in manual)..Leave it on for the night , and tomorrow morning you will have "like" new strings! smile.gif
