Well I went and did it. I pulled the trigger on a new Orange 50 watt Rockerverb MK III 2X12 combo. Good thing I did it today too because the gal at the music store got on the phone right away to order one and found that the distributor in Georgia only had one left. I also ordered a cover for it and while I was at the store and picked up a 2 switch footswitch for channel switching and to engage or disengage the attenuator. The reverb is also switchable but I figured I could do without that, at least for now. I also picked up the Orange pre eq (Bax Bangeetar) for good measure. Now all that is left to do is wait. Orange says they will get it shipped out tomorrow so I should be seeing her in a couple weeks. Needless to say, my wallet is a bit on the lighter side today. Oh well, that's GAS for ya! That is a great amp! This is going to be a difficult couple of weeks waiting for it to arrive . -------------------- Cyber-industrial music and video animations:

Hello folks,
Little question about my Hotbird, I can play through it into my amp or straight into the Scarlett even if it isn't plugged in, if I engage one of the footswitches it goes silent. It may be a silly question, because why would I want to play though it switched off but, I don't want to do that, it's just something I discovered, I guess what I'm asking, is, does it tell you anything about the circuitry? Or are all pedals the same? Cheers folks Phil -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Thanks Mertay,
I personally can't hear a difference. My ears are still in training Ignore the wave shape the two with the gentle curves tool ages to be processed for some reason and I guess that's why they display like that, some glitch somewhere https://soundcloud.com/gmcphil-1/through-hotbird-unpowered https://soundcloud.com/gmcphil-1/through-hotbird-powered https://soundcloud.com/gmcphil-1/direct Cheers -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Thanks Mertay,
I've read a lot about high end pedals being true bypass but Boss and the other big boys do buffered, why is that? People always seem to go on about true bypass being the best but I'm not sure I understand. Cheers dude -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. why would I want to play though it switched off Or are all pedals the same? 'If' it was in a chain of pedals one may not always want it on, especially in a live situation. All bypass's are definitely not equal. As Mertay mentioned, the Boss buffer is generally a good one some others have horrible buffers. Honestly, if your running less than 18 feet (5 + meters) of cable including the pedal patch cables, you'd barely notice anything true bypass'd or buffered. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Thanks Ken,
When I said "why would I want to play though it switched off", I actually meant switched off as in absolutely no power to it, no battery or mains, (I run it via mains at home, I hate swapping batteries ) Whether or not this makes a difference to your response, I don't know Cheers Phil This post has been edited by Phil66: Mar 7 2016, 04:08 PM -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Either way it is definitely 'true' (hardwire) bypass. I have been in live situations where a pedal has failed for whatever reason and/or the battery died. A true bypass effect will still pass signal. I may not have had the 'effect' but at least I didn't cut out completely. -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Well I've gone and bought something that you all will think is a pointless purchase but I've had the blues because of THIS so I've done some retail therapy
I've bought a Boss GT-100 that is basically the floor version of my GT-001 with some extra functions. I've got it mainly to save swapping cables when I want to record direct or from amp, I can send exactly the same patches to both units it's just that the 100 is a bit more versatile than the 001. The 001 is £179 retail and the 100 is £309 retail, I got this for £131 so it's a good buy for what I want it for Please don't shout at me Mertay This post has been edited by Phil66: Mar 13 2016, 10:05 AM -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Thanks Todd,
I got it off the Bay, it looks brand new and comes with a Gator gig bag. Delivery is £20 but it's still a bargain, they've been going for over £200.
