Fetched my SRV Strat back today after having 12s put on and a set up to suit standard D.
Couldn't resist this little fella, don't know what to do with it with its odd fret spacing which I think is minor pent and it's tuned to E B E, but it's just a bit of fun eye candy for my man cave Made by a local bloke in the way a plantation worker would have knocked one up I might have a go at making one myself, apparently it's becoming quite a hobby thing. -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. Got to leave it for a few days, it's been hanging up in the shop so need to be sure anything is dead on it, can't spray anything on the neck as it's untreated wood.
To be honest, I haven't got a clue what to do with it, bottleneck is my first guess but if i retune it I it can be played fretted. I'm sure I'll learn something on it that will teach me something about the normal guitar neck. It was only £69 so not bad for a bit of fun. Loving the way the nut and bridge are pieces of all thread We arrived at a figure of £90 all in with the setup on the Strat that included strings, even though it started with him just asking me to pay for the cigar box and nothing for the Strat. Like I said he's very very fair but too fair for his own good. Lovely bloke. Very skilled if not officially trained luthier. Nice!! now I'm getting curious about these. Anyone else have one like this or something similar?
That looks pretty cool, Phil. I wish my cigar box ukulele had a pickup. |

Mine was £68 but it has a pickup so maybe cheaper as full acoustic. Mine uses a piece of all thread for both nut and bridge
That looks really cool. I've never gotten the chance to play one but it looks like fun. about as authentic as it gets. I love how it's using a screw as the nut. Its taking every day stuff that would get thrown away and making musical instruments out of it. How much do these things cost?
