Hey guys, I'm going for the first time to eat Thia food. Is there anything that is particularly good. I thought about trying something with curry but I didn't know if it was too hot or not. Could anyone help?

In my opinion, everything is good...I especially love the red curry with chicken or pork, but it is kinda hot. It's up to you what you can take! If you are "new" to hot food, try a yellow curry, they are not so hot as the red ones but still delicious. Stay away from green curry...way too hot!
Another thing I really love is peanut sauce with chicken saté, I can really recommend that as well.
I once ate a fried locust in Bangkok...it's totally eatable, but stick with curry or peanut sauce for a start.

It is, so go for it!
One advice: Usually, you get the curry (with the vegetables and meat) in one bowl and an extra bowl with rice. Don't make the mistake I made at first and just mix it all together. Take a bit of rice along with the curry, and when it's really hot, take a portion of rice without sauce. This will help when it gets too hot. Water or beer won't...oh, and if you have a beer with it, go for Singha. It's a classic Lager and really good.

You going with any East Asians? Let them order for you, that is what I always have done. But real hard to go wrong with any East Asian food, it is pretty much all good to me. I can't think of any dish I have ever had at any East Asian restaurant that I did not like. You end up just wishing you could order everything, but you have to come back to get it all. Well I like hot/spicy. I guess some people don't, as hard as it is for me to understand why?

edit: I just pulled out my "Hot and Spicy" cook book that I like, on the Thai section. The favorite thing I have found, that I like to cook, is Stir-fried beef with bean sprouts. It is not too hot, also has peanut butter and coconut milk in it. But I am sure there are others that I might like better if I tried them, but that one is real good.

But as I said, hard to go wrong, just keep in mind that a lot is hot. They have really good soup. I am now hungry also.

I never tried Thai food. Now I really wish to, I'll see if we have some good restaurants here. That curry seems delicious smile.gif
