Hey friends! I've just found a new videoclip by Eric Johnson. He is a legend. His playing is so unique, and his phrasing has influenced lots of modern guitarists.
Also, I love that Strat, I've never seen one like these. Strat+ Hollow body. Beautiful. -------------------- My lessons

The guy is a legend for good reason I wish his guitar was a bit louder in the mix and a bit brighter, but his playing is BRILLIANT. Hollow body usually sound warmer, maybe that's why you feel this is lacking some bright? -------------------- My lessons

It's a recent Fender EJ model. I don't know if it's available to the public yet. I'm pretty sure the only 'hollow' part is the upper bout.
Chambered Fenders, either Strat or Tele don't sound that different from their solid counterparts other than the fact that all guitars sound different. They're a lot lighter. They can have a bit less sustain(?). They sometimes they are actually a bit brighter. Most would describe the tone as 'airier' or a little more open. I only have experience with thinline Teles and honestly, the difference is negligible. The difference I did notice was really only on the neck pickup. I would describe it as slightly more 3-D sounding. *Hollow Strats, Teles and LPs are completely different animals than an actual 'arch-top' instrument. The construction is totally different. As Rich said, "it sounds exactly like Eric Johnson". This post has been edited by klasaine: Nov 28 2017, 05:07 PM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Lovely tune and inspiring player. After listening to this I tried to jam along and attempt his style, failed miserably but still enjoyed it.

So much of this is reminiscent of Cliffs of Dover from the drums to his phrasing it's almost like a remix
