They are probably the most overlooked component for the guitar setup, but...
Do guitar cables make a big difference in the quality of tone? I have changed over to using 4 Cable setup for my Pod HD500 and would like are to at least replace two of my temp cables with new ones. -------------------- Play Games Arcade Take a break, Play Games! What a great topic!
They are indeed very overlooked - when I think about it, I have been using one Stagg guitar cable (made in china) for over 5 years now both on stage in studio etc etc. I think cable does influence your tone but I'm not technical so I can't explain it. All I know is that I did hear differences between cables few times. Once it was so obvious, I had one cable professionally re soldered and it never sounded the same. It was kind dead sounding and had lower volume output... I'm not sure what caused it. I think it's best to just buy high quality cables that will last for years then to replace them so often. In the manner of this topic, I found out recently that there is a special power cable that supposedly influences tone as well? Bassist Victor Wooten was marketing it. Is there something true in the story?
