Hi All,

So, the reason I wanted to start learning to play guitar was after I watched Cannon Rock (Jerry C) on youtube afew years ago....

I've been playing now for about a year and a half and I have finally gotten around to learning it (litterally only just started). I know its going to be a tuffy but I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice on the tricky parts (sweeping and speed picking in particular).

Even though I think its quite above my skill level at the moment i'm going to have some fun learning it and hopefully gain some new moves by doing so.

Cheers All!

Loundzilla

Apart from learning it slowly and speeding it up later,
a trick that I sometimes use is not playing the notes that make the lick hard.
Then when you got the easy parts down, add the 'hard' notes and they won't be as hard anymore smile.gif

Hi Loundzilla,
I just love Canon Rock.
Something that works for me when I want to learn some difficult lick is: I quit practing the music and go to an exercise of some technique that will help me doing that lick.
I guess some few days practing some AP will be usefull.
BTW, I have already tried this song, and the sweeping parts are still very hard for me sad.gif
Good practicing mate! wink.gif

Canon rock was my reason I started too! I've been playing for about a year and a half as well! I'm still learning it a bit. I know the notes, just can't play the crazy stuff. I put my knowledge out there of Canon Rock in this playlist:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvN5RnQnrjE...=PL&index=0

But to say the truth, it was actually a bit of a rip off from Trond Vold, who plays it better.

All I did was provide my discussion and stuff and changed it up a little bit. So feel free to check out any of it you like. My link is part of a playlist I made and I go into stuff about Canon Rock that not everybody does. But like I implied, Trond Vold was the main inspiration. I used a lot of his tabs. But through the course of the lessons I referred to Trond so I could give them credit he deserves.

Funtwo's version is why I started. I think he plays it better than JerryC. But Trond tops anybody I've ever seen, though!
Anybody can find his version by just typing in "guitar" but if you want it from Funtwo Himself click this link: (highest quality)

I found Trond here on GMC by accident. I was browsing google for "canon rock" and came across the link to Trond's lesson and that's how I found it! I was mesmerized by his version, especially the beginning part with hard-core delay. I hadn't heard anything like it before!

My youtube channel goes a bit more into why I started guitar and stuff.

Trond is a killer player. Just one of many I've found here on GMC, this place has the deepest talent pool of any site I've been on. It's just great.

Myself, I started out after watching the videos from Guns N Roses, November Rain, Don't cry, etc

so I guess Slash is guilty of it biggrin.gif
