Take 1 Sarge.
I couldn't make anything musical out of it though but i will try tomorrow. I do struggle to make arpeggio stuff musical, I'm thinknig it kind of needs a lot of repeats and moving around a la Yngwie? https://youtu.be/mTHpf4baCwc -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. I'm truly impressed. You nailed this one right off the bat. A year ago, a lick like this might have given you some trouble. But now, you are able to get it and play it right away! You nailed the pinky landing as well on both strings! It requires a slight shift in the left hand making sticking the landing harder. You managed it without missing a beat. If this isn't a confirmation of your progress, I don't know what is. Very well done. I honestly think you had less difficulty with this lick than I did. It certainly took me longer to play it smoothly than it took you to see it and post your vid! I worked on this for two days to get is smooth and even. Well played! you just..
LEVELED UP!!! Todd Take 1 Sarge.

Thanks Todd and thank you for your kind comments on my progress.
If possible could you give a quick picking analysis please? I just let my hands do what they wanted but I have been told in the past that not doing alternate picking can ruin the rhythm. I'm trying to understand a bit more about key signatures, I looked into that and it looks like G# minor but with a G instead of G# and a D instead of D#. I don't know what this would make it, should I be trying to do this with these licks? I just thought I'd I keep doing it, eventually it might start arriving in my brain. The way I approached this one was to incorporate a few of the techniques that Todd has been injecting into the recent 'quick licks' lessons.
Open string then hammer-on, pinky stretch, alternate picking, pull-off, string traverse. The most important thing for me is to be able to apply this stuff. Using the lick in a solo (or as part of a song melody) is where the tree bears fruit. To that end, I looped a chord progression (Gm D F C), played Todd's lick at the top > added my own stuff > came back to the lick at the end. The hardest part for me is not making it sound like an exercise. I'm a little sloppy on the time. Definitely had fun doing it. Ha, ha! It's all relative. My 335 is my easiest guitar to play. Compared to my Strats and Teles, it has low action and a fast neck. I also used way more gain than I usually do and a bit of delay.
I have no idea how I'm picking it - a little bit of everything. *I use .011s This post has been edited by klasaine: Jan 6 2020, 05:21 AM -------------------- - Ken Lasaine

Thanks for the info Todd,
I thought I was economy picking at one point when I watched it back, maybe not. Ken, it's great to see you making music out of these. Some of them I can try to make something musical but with these tapping ones I struggle, other than trying to move it around and repeat it enough to fill out a few bars. Either way, they are helping me with dexterity and also my brain is getting better at remembering things more quickly so it's all good Cheers folks.
