Take 2: Your first Rock Ballad, Lesson By Gabriel Leopardi |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Your first Rock Ballad by Gabriel Leopardi
Retake for better sound quality. @Kris and Monica: I looked at the video of Kris and here I already found my ancher point, I think. I had it before but I guess I'm struggling with my recording tools. I changed my position so you can see my guitar. And of course that's not a good thing. So I have to find/buy gear for better recording... Hi Gert!
First of all, try when you record a video to put the camera in such a way to catch both hands (like in your previous takes). It will help us to give you a better feedback. Your right hand looks a little better but still needs some adjustments. Give yourself a little more time. Unfortunately, not many things can be fixed immediately, but with practice and patience, everything can be solved. You are very focused on how you pick the strings and that's why this time you have some timing issues. When you arpeggiate the chords, don't rush the last note. All your upstrokes don't look good. It's clear that you have some problems with the picking technique. That's why I would recommend this lesson to you: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Picking-Hand-Basics/ Don't be scared because it's from level 2 of difficulty. I don't need you to play this lesson at the original tempo. I just want to help you fix your picking technique. So, study this lesson at a slower tempo. You can record some takes and put them in the Practice Room. In this way, we can help you to fix the issues. Increase the speed only when all the notes sounds good at lower tempo. The strumming part doesn't sound clear enough. Don't forget to add a little more force when you strum. Continue practicing this lesson more days and after you fix all the things that we pointed out, make a new recording. I will give you a 6 to encourage you. Keep up the good work! |
