Tell me, how does that attenuator behave? I was considering The Silencer myself.. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

That is some sweet gear man! Tell me, how does that attenuator behave? I was considering The Silencer myself.. Hi Ivan - thanks for your feedback! About the Silencer: Here´s my long answer to your short question: - jump down to "conclusion" for a straight answer I was considering buying an attenuator because I could not turn up the master volume more than to "1". It was just too loud for ME (and I´m sure my neighbours as well). But what use is a powerful tube amp if you can not use it´s potential (even at home)? So I started out looking for technical help and attenuators seemed to be the solution I was looking for. I had a thread about this at the GMC Forum as well ( https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...howtopic=36098) The "man! it sucks tone big time" did throw me off for some time.... But then the idea got stronger that with a attenuator with a LOAD box option would be a perfect solution for getting the Full Tube Amp sound into my recording gear bypassing the amp cab completely - so if I choose I could just practice with my headphones and my amp full on (not just the pre amp section of the Marshall). 3 main options: 1) THD Hot Plate 2) SPL Cabulator 3) TAD Silencer I was about to order the most expensive one (Cabulator) but luck had it that at this moment a new review was launched at YouTube ([url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FOinA9HrO4) - it was shockingly bad. I got in contact with the designer of the Cabulator and he told me that no one has ever managed to let this gear sound sooo bad, but my faith was a bit shaken. A few days later I saw the new review about the Silencer ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DY-GdXsIJA...eature=related) and that one was quite good. Conclusion: Well I bought it and I´m VERY happy with it because it just delivers what it should. Bypassing the Amps cabinet I get TWO signals in my audio interface - a direct line out and a TAD F.A.N.T.A (Cab sim) signal - so now I can either choose the signal or have "real" stereo when routing it into a amp simulator (which is mainly GR 4 Control room without any effects of course). I also have to say that any dial between -2db and -10db does not make a real difference to me (maybe I´m deaf already) but that might be due to the fact that I have the master volume up to 5 and thus any setting like -4 or -10db is still unbearable loud I heard it´s quite good in/on a live setting as well and you can channel your guitar signal via Silencer to the mixer or just get fine tube amp sound without over powering your band mates. I would buy this again without hesitation - the sound you get out of the line out/f.a.n.t.a is brilliant and the "tone sucking" when playing life is tweak able by a good EQ. I´d say Go for it Ivan - here´s the link to the specs page from TAD http://www.tubeampdoctor.com/product_info....products_id=385! Cheers & Sorry for the round about story - seems to me I was just in "writing mood" This post has been edited by Berglmir: Nov 28 2010, 07:36 PM |

Wow, it's expensive. But it's a great guitar indeed. I heard PRS Tremonti Sig, and played just a bit PRS SC, and they rock hard
