As you might've guessed, my favorite chords are the suspended ones tongue.gif

What are your favorite chords and why? What do you associate their sound with?

Hmm, I'm going to look very silly here because I don't know what it's called but I'll describe it to you:

Notes to fret: Low E, 2nd fret. G string, 2nd fret. B string, 3rd fret. All other srings open.. I love it smile.gif

That's inverted D major,or Dadd9 with a open E1, also one of my favs smile.gif
Nines are usually much nicer than conventional major or minor ..

Thanks guys... I think I've always been drawn to add9 or suspended 9th chords without realising it smile.gif

It feels warm and sunny to me, that chord.. like you can feel the heat rays on your face smile.gif

Hey Stephane - do you look at it as an inverted Emaj7 with an added 13th? (the C# in the bass)

F Maj 9 in second inversion. I can get all of it except that high E string. Hopefully with practice I'll be able to play it like Shawn Lane.
Don't Hurt yourself, it's quite a stretch! biggrin.gif

Just bend your index and bar it so it goes over the low E and B strings.

Here's one I "made". Play it with reverb, and strum with your thumb at about the 12th fret. Play each note individually from low E to high E and let ring and play it in the neck pickup. x87080 After your done quickly tap the A and D strings at the 12th fret. I also like to simply finger the chord, pick each note individually and let ring then slap very hard in between the 12th and 13th fret with my right hand. I like the result. biggrin.gif

So the index is playing the 5th fret, 6th fret B, okay. But how can you barre that B string while keeping the high E open?

Ask Shawn Lane? tongue.gif That's the only part I can't get. I'm positive you would have to bend the back part of the index finger up somehow. I can only get the E string to half ring that way. huh.gif
