Ask in your Music Store for a 'Blues Harp'. They come in all the Major Keys. Start with with either an 'E', 'A' or a 'D' as this covers most Blues songs. Blues Harps only have 10 holes. Harmonica's have 12 sets of 2 Holes. Chromatic Harmonica's have either 24 or 48 Holes. They consist of two diatonic harmonicas stacked in one, tuned a semitone apart. When you play and push the slide, the airflow is switched from to the other and makes all 12 notes of the chromatic scale available. They are usually in the Key of C. Stevie Wonder plays a Chromatic one as does Larry Adler, who was probably the greatest Player ever! Awesome tips, thanks Jones. I'm considering getting one myself -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Maan, I just love the sound of those blues guys showing their soul trough the harmonica. I found good tutorials for 12 bar blues, which, at first is all I want to do. But what harmonica would be best? You got all different kinds, different holes... more holes, less holes. Does anyone have experience with this? Thank's. Thanks for inspiring me!!! I just found my old harmonica in C and started learning This time I'm getting results finally -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

I think that is what it means, but perhaps Jones can answer better, I'm not sure what notes are on that harp

I got Hohner one in C and that one seems to cover most beatles songs I always wanted to learn
I see that your have bigger spacing between holes , what is about that and which ones are available because it seems to me it would be easier to play the one with bigger spacing between holes -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

So if Id get a blues harp in E tuning.. or whatever it means. Does that mean I can only play the blues in E? I think that is what it means, but perhaps Jones can answer better, I'm not sure what notes are on that harp Yep, that's it! So to play in all Keys you'll end up with a collection of different Harps! The correct name for a Blues harp is:- 'The Richter-tuned harmonica', or '10-hole harmonica' (in Asia) or 'blues harp' (in America), is the most widely known type of harmonica. It is a variety of diatonic harmonica, with ten holes which offer the player 19 notes (10 holes times a draw and a blow for each hole minus one repeated note) in a three octave range. (From Wikipedia) Have a look at the rest of the page HERE!! There is also a way of playing called 'Cross harp Playing' where you'd use a different Keyed Harp and play Modally!! For example:- If the Band are playing a Blues in 'D' and you use an 'A' Harp you represent the Mixolydian Mode!! Simple, eh??? Im gunna go with this:D http://www.musik-produktiv.de/hohner-blues-harp-e-ms.aspx That's as good a start as any!!! -------------------- I'd rather have a full Bottle in front of me than a full Frontal Lobotomy!!
