Some good lead work but after listening to it, I could not remember how it went. So i tried it again. Still nothing. I think it lacks solid melody lines? Whaddya think?

I couldn't even listen past a minute.
I usually refrain from commenting on music because it's subjective but I think that is awful.

Maybe it would be better as some horror movie soundtrack?I don't much care for it.

I could never really get hooked on Animals as Leaders. Yeah, technically impressive, perhaps some writing parts are impressive, but it lacks...something. That something that means everything. Not just this song, but their music in general. There's nothing that hooks my ear melodically. Technically it might pick up my ear and make me go: "I wonder what was going on there", but not something I come back to time and again.

This is from their new album too, and for me, it just kinda feels like it's missing something, even though it's probably a bit more melodic.

Here's another one. I think some of what Tosin does falls into the category of "yeah, that looks cool and interesting, but when I've heard 2-3 times, then I've heard it enough". I'm sure people would point to similar things in music I hear (or any music in general), but yeah, for me it's "...okay, now I've heard, it was cool and all, but I don't want to listen to it again".

I went back and tried again and still nothing. It's almost like the entire song is a technical demo of some kind, not an actual song. I know they have fans, and I can appreciate the technical skill, but wow is that a forgettable tune.

Even something like BLEED from Meshuggah is somewhat memorable even though it's similar in many ways. Then again, it's more "musical" which sounds odd, than this AAL song seems to be.

It's a good example of how flawless execution and perfect technique can just fall flat and not come across as actual music imho. I'm sure there are some folks that love it though. I'm just not one of them.
