Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi MisterM! Good job here!

This lesson is getting very close. I note that you tend to rush a bit the beat or sometimes play everything EVEN. When playing this kind of swing stuff it's good to start a bit after the beat, not too much but just a bit go give a swing feel. Once thing that acn help to keep a better groove for this one is to keep your right hand thumb moving "swinging" as Muris does in the video. Compare his thumb with yours in both videos and you'll note the difference. This little tweak will improve drastically your groove on this one.

Tone sounds good and chord changes are close to be totally smooth.

Hey there!
Trying to match swing playing to any kind of ruler is basicly impossible .That's why we can't judge the timming refering to regular rules. Gabriel said what's most important - in swing we mostly play a little after the beat and it's almost impossible to execute it with "mechnic" attempt. You need to dig into the groove and let your body do things for you. You'll see it comes "just like that". Aside from this I see nothing to complain here smile.gif Well done

Hi man. Nice tone, you've got the sound right for this lesson.

As Bag and Darius, mentioned, your timing is not quite in the right place yet. You're rushing it too much - you're playing the chords a bit before the bit.

The other thing (and this will also affect the timing) is that you're missing out the extra strokes that Muris plays with his thumb.

Imagine the count of a triplet.

1,2,3 1,2,3

Now, imagine that you keep the same rhythm going but you miss out the 2nd beat.

1, -, 3, 1, -, 3,

The chord should occur where the one is and your thumb should play again on the 3rd beat. Hopefully that makes sense?

Read it and think about it but then go back to Muris's video and it should make sense by hearing it too.
