Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Straight Rock Solo by Guido Bungenstock

Hi GMC

I loved that lesson. It’s so beautiful.
I keep working on my weak points, I progress slowly.
Today I found the pleasure of the guitar and it is the main one for me.

Have a nice day.

Hi Manu!

Your take sounds great and it seems you started to be a little more relaxed while playing. That's a really good thing.

I would have liked to see you taking more care about the details. Besides the fact that it will improve your overall performance, it will also help you get full profit from the lesson.

Be a little more careful of accents and try to avoid playing too many notes with the same picking strength because it sounds too square. If you add a little more work on this area, your playing will be even more awesome.

I personally don't like the fact that you have too many unwanted noises throughout the entire take and you do not respect all the pauses between licks. Also, you skipped that long slide from 0:20.

0:58 - the funky rhythm doesn't sound perfect. You are close but be careful how Guido puts the accents.

You get a 7 from me. Keep up your awesome work!

Loved your take! smile.gif I won't repeat what has already been said as Monica is always spot on with her analysis.

I would like to say i can tell that you are picking with more precision and with more 'Gusto". I'm very glad you switched picks. Something so small doesn't always seem like it will make a big difference, but I've seen it make a HUGE amount of difference in lots of folks playing. Having something with a fine point actually increases precision, which is the foundation of good playing imho. also, having a lack of flex in the pick can increase precision and allow subtle changes in pick pressure to have a big effect on accents. Id like to see you focus a bit more on accenting notes based on just what you think sounds good. It's a great way to add your own flair to any piece of music.

Your sense of timing is very good as always. You never get lost in the beat. Your internal metronome seems to improve with each and every rec. Your ability is seriously top notch on ever level Manu. Super congrats!!

One thing I'd love to see is your own sense of melody/harmony/style in perhaps writing your own music that pushes your boundaries and skill or even playing a solo over a youtube backing that is a bit outside of your comfort zone. I think you are ready to branch out and move beyond pre written music. I want to hear "You" smile.gif

Solid 8 on this one!!

Very nice!

We can see a difference in:

* Your right hand is starting to look a bit more relaxed

* At times you now keep a solid tempo with your foot.

Regarding the later, bear in mind you need the foot the most when you actually stop using it. This moment is a clear indication you do not fully feel the pulse in the lead lines - and again that's the issue to address.

Just to be clear - this is still a strong take. I would like to see you address the fast run at the end which would benefit from improved hand sync.

Keep up the great work you get a 7 from me!
