Hello friends! Welcome to the new GMC Collab!
Before we start, I'd like to share the final video of the previous collab in the case you've missed it: https://youtu.be/q9C9IYnYrZg Isn't it awesome??? You can be part of the next one right now! This time I've recorded a backing track in the style of Rammstein and as we've done in the previous collabs, this one will also include vocals and Kristofer Dahl (GMC Founder) has already lyrics and a raw demo! Check it out here: kris_vox_mix_Rammstein_collab.mp3 ( 3.78MB ) Number of downloads: 277 Lyrics: CHORUS Diese Shule ist so toll (This school is such fun) Mein Gitar spielt das Rock ’n Roll (My guitar plays rock ’n roll) Für alle Leute und jeden Tag (For all students and every day) Diese Shule ist mein alter jag (This school is my alter ego) VERSE Im Abend ein Arpeggio spielen (Play an arpeggio in the evening) Die Medchen will von Glück da schreien: (Girls will scream of joy:) “Ich will einfach ein Schredder haben (“I only want a shredder) Und dan mich in die Nabel (Fiddle me in my belly button) Pill mich mit deine Schnabel” (with your trunk”) OUTRO Mit mein Schnabel in dein Nabel (with my trunk in your belly button) We need your guitar solos, arrangements, chords, bass guitar, backing vocals or whatever you would like to add to this one! Backing track: Rammstein_Collab_Backing.mp3 ( 3.4MB ) Number of downloads: 275 Jamtrack: Rammstein_Jamtrack.mp3 ( 9.42MB ) Number of downloads: 254 Tempo: 85bpm Chord progression & Scale choices: Chorus: Dm - Am - F - C Verse: (Dm - Am - F - C) x 2 (Am - F - C - Dm) x 2 Outro: Riff in D Blues Scale In order to keep things simple, you can use A minor scale to solo over this one. (For more advanced players, you can see it as D dorian over Intro and Verse and A aeolian over Chorus). However, everything will sound better if you focus on notes from the chords while creating melodies. So a good exercise would be to work on 1 part at a time and play only chord tones at first. Then, gradually add other notes from the scale as passing notes. Does this sound difficult? Send me a PM and I'll guide you. Over the outro you can use D blues scale: Check the tabs: Rammstein_for_Beginners.pdf ( 302.39K ) Number of downloads: 291 IF YOU NEED HELP TO USE ALL THIS INFO LET ME KNOW! I'M HERE TO GUIDE YOU. IMPORTANT INFO About files required: In order to make the things easier for compiling takes and mixing I need that each participant shares 3 files: - Audio file with the mix of the backing and your guitar. - Audio file only with your guitar (If possible this audio should have the same length than the mix version) - Video of you playing the solo, and if it's not possible a picture. (Mp4 format if it's possible) The best way to share this is compressing in a zip file to be downloaded from here or using sharing service as dropbox, wetransfer, and copying the link here. If you decide to share your files using soundcloud please remember to "allow downloads". Thanks! Hello guys,
I have a question. Why is it d dorian? Because there is no G chords in it. Greetz tim Or is it because the c chords is the raised 6th of d? No. Im sorry. That would be B |

Hi Tim,
SJ post is right however I understand that you could feel a bit confused since the progression could be part of both D minor or D dorian. At first sight I also though that this was in D minor however when I've started jamming with D minor I noted that there was something that didn't work. My ear was the "judge" saying that the minor 6th of D minor didn't sound cool while the major 6th sounded better. Try it by yourself. When playing the progression I've noted that the overall feeling of the verse is in C major, and the fact that the chorus is in A minor makes everything sound more related to C major (or D Dorian), instead of D minor. There are different levels of modal analysis. We can see a progression as a whole, or we can see each chord as an entity and refer to a mode that is being played over it. At the same time, if we focus on chord tones, all the other notes from the chromatic scale can be used as tensions and passing notes. Let me know if this clarifies a bit everything. -------------------- My lessons
