I finally had some time to spend on this
Here is a mix for your comments - this is getting close to where I think it should be and I have already had some helpful input from Kris - now it's your turn! Any and all comments welcome, whether its that your solo is too low, or I messed up the effects ... I particularly would welcome any input on tying this all together as well as possible since there are so many different elements - any tips on keeping the voices at the same level. that sort of thing as I am sure many of you are more experienced than I am at mixing! My first comment on hearing this on a different system is that there is too much reverb - its amazing how many things you can hear when you take a step back from a mix ... -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Nice! Been really looking forward to hearing this
All the lead tracks and vocal tracks sounds great to me. But, a thing i noticed is that the rhythm-guitar is quite low, and the snare perhaps is a tad louder than i would have made it. Thats atleast what i noticed in the first listen. Edit: Just noticed that some of the bassdrums seems to have a lower velocity than the rest at some random locations. I agree with Trond, the rhythm guitar is not loud enough (lol, I know, this HAD to come from me... ) and I would also reduce the reverb on the vocals a bit, even though this impression might change when the guitars are louder... I think I will just wait for the second mix and then throw in my opinion again But in general it already sounds really cool
PS: I think I would also turn up the keyboards a bit -------------------- Guitars: various Gibson Les Pauls / Gibson J 45

I agree with Trond, the rhythm guitar is not loud enough (lol, I know, this HAD to come from me... That's always the case, a rhythm guitar can never get too loud I'm just picky with a couple small details you might want to concider. There's a hiss at 4:44 The "Hoooo" at 2:39 sticks out a bit. I'd just lower it a tad. -------------------- My bands homepage

Mix sounds pretty good Andrew!! This was a fun collab!! Maybe you could tweak a little more my bass, on this system I'm listening it lacks definition and attack, also it could have been a little louder (to be in line with the drums)..Try EQing it a little in mids/treble to get it to cut through better and be heard in all frequencies (now its a little too basy)..You can try with some compression too...Looking forward to new mixes

I think the vocals are too loud. I agree with Marcus, rhythm guitar has to sound like a bomb on this song. Much more powerful and louder. Drums can be colored a bit heavier. To me they sound like instrument on its own, not really in the general song atmosphere. More gated reverb on snare as well. If the keyboards are recorded in MIDI, I would change the preset and make this hammond with more distortion. Good example is Depp Purple intro from the song "Perfect Strangers". I can hear that instruments are recorded healthy, just needs time to make them all work together. Sounds like it's on a good way for a good mix.

Marcus - at least most people agree what needs to be tweaked - and it isn't just you that says the rhythm guitar needs to be louder -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
