Looks pretty cool man!
Is there a trial version avaiable? And does it do anything else than detects what notes are in the song? |

I am not big fan of this software as it takes away beauty of listening to music countless times, transcribing it or playing it by ear!

I am not big fan of this software as it takes away beauty of listening to music countless times, transcribing it or playing it by ear! Nah, me either. I still prefer to play along with the music, trying to figure out the notes by ear. When I started leaning guitar there wasn't even decent tape recorders around, so you just have to worn out the record.... I think you will learn music much better taking it by ear, listen to the phrases and the accents and then try to imitate it... //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. I like this! Sure it shouldn't replace you ears, but it can be a good tool to gain time. As long as your ears have the final word, I'm all for this type of software! Yes, I agree with David, ears are most important, but this can be very useful in some situations. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Well, thats true that it can be some sort of time-saver - but on the other hand: If you cant hear what is playing, you probably cant play it either. I take myself as a good example: I will never be a lightning fast guitar player, cause I simply cant hear what the fastest guys are playing or I cant even think that super-fast phrases. Then we have the problem with the most musical software, which tends to be so complicated that it takes longer time to learn than it would have done doin it the other way round. I use Cubase for recording, and have done since the eighties, but I still can't manage all functions in the proggie....

Hmm is this something similar to "Direct access option" of Melodyne software (which is in beta now!) :
http://www.celemony.com/cms/ Anyway , technology advances, its always better to learn by ear but for some things this may prove useful too! -------------------- For GMC support please email support (at) guitarmasterclass.net

I'd recommend to use your ears, but this software is really helpful when you're trying to transcribe fast licks, like Jason Becker's ones

A friend of mine is making this program, and it it about 50 bucks or something like that. It takes down the speed without changing the pitch, and you can make loops in the proggie as well. A friend of mine told me about that software, but I have never tried it. Might be helpful if it comes to learning very fast licks.

I have used it at Berklee and students at Berklee in general use it. Its one thing to slow down and identify things on your own, its totally other to have software show you everything (you practically do no work there!). |
