Hmmm, that's not good. Well there's plenty of excess and unused guitars guitars to go around for everybody. What about all these famous guys who have like 100 guitars ??

Well, yes, but with world depletion of wood and rainforests - guitar numbers are the least of our concerns wink.gif

exactly. many ecological timebombs out there. global warming is probably not even near the top of the list, and a solution to that may be found (there are schemes contemplated to counter the effect of the higher CO2, or perhaps storing it in the earths mantel, various schemes.

For example 40% of the world's top soil has been lost, and it continues to be lost at 1 or 2% per year. It can take centuries to replenish that. And of course the ground water on which much of agriculture relies is being depleted, again taking maybe a century to replenish. The list goes on and on.

The thing about the rain forests, is that equatorial soils are just naturally crappy, the top soil is poor, because are the rain washes away the nutrients. But forests evolved around this. Basically the stay healthy by keeping the organic material off the ground. As soon as anything drops, insects digest it and take it back up into the canopy, it stays off the ground. But slash and burn gets rid of that, and plants some crops that can only last a few years, and after the the land is useless. It could be cultivated with crops conducive to the conditions, but that is not done.

However it is noteworthy that the Amazon indigenous people did have a civilization that did this, a fairly advance one. Like a lot of cultures, they disappeared due to European diseases and other causes before much was known of them.

i can play a piece of plastic with strings if that means more trees in the world. but sadly it doesn't, guitars are like what.. the 0.01% of the total usage of wood?
