This morning my little brother said when he dreams he will sometimes dream music to accompany what is going on. It is music that he writes and everybody in the dream can hear it. I told him I don't recall ever having music in my dreams in this manner. If so, I don't remember being aware of it that much.

Do you dream with music?

I dream with things related to music.. maybe playing, seeing bands, meeting famous musicians.. but I don't remember if my dreams have soundtracks...

Really strange! I've never had a dream with a musical background. But i had a different situation: dreaming incredible music, and I am confident that I will remember when I wake up, but it never happens ... sad.gif

After watching Crossroads (the one with Steve Vai, not Britney Spears biggrin.gif) I had a dream that we had a contract with devil. He took my body and played awesome neoclassical music. It was kinda creepy dream, so I woke up, but remembered the melody, but then I fell asleep again and forgot it smile.gif
Sometimes I hear some songs I know in my dreams, but from somewhere, not as background. smile.gif

My dreams that are vivid enough to recall long after they over often have a vague presence of music in them. I can usually hear a certain random melody or ambient noise. Mostly though my dreams are based around certain color palettes and hues, and ironically - for some reason - I strongly associate colors with sound.

Like when I write, Or am trying to write a riff, I think - "I want to make a riff that sounds like a dark orange, or crimson."

I honestly have those thoughts, but it works for me.

Satriani said that he dreamed this song in its entirety, guitar arrangements, etc:

Man, can't recall, I usually dream something music related, but a specific melody.. not sure. I rarely dream sounds at all!:)

On contrary, when I'm awake, constantly there are melodies running in my head, sometimes it drives me crazy, like after a long day of playing/composing.
