I've used a car audio/lighting forum before when I was younger. It was more aggressive just tons of people trying to show off.
I love it here, no one is like omg check this behind the head playing with my foot! It's more of you feel you can be open. You can get a response from almost anyone, because everyone is willing to help if they have knowledge in that area. From all the talks of solid state, tubes, pod farm, and digital multi-effects, it has gotten me to buy my awesome head. But also has me wanting something like a VST plug-in to do some recording as its way easier and I can still achieve a good sound. Which also pushed me into learning more about DAWs as well for recording. I love how I can ask about a song and what I may be doing wrong and how it turns into a certain technique that will help push me to achieving it. But in the long run I know the answer, 99% of the time it is.. Slow down, practice it slowly, gradually speed up, use a metronome. I have that in my head constantly from this site. I think that covers how I feel about the forum much less the site and how everyone acts more like a family of cousins than a bunch of meatheads trying to show off. -------------------- Guitars:

I love the general vibe of the GMC forum, we all agreed that we would make this a fun and respectful community where we can help each other and share ideas and artists,
I also love that we tend to be very authentic in this forum and expose our true personalities as much as we can hear -------------------- Visit my:

Nice topic! I've been here for more than 4 years and I've been at the forum since my first lesson was published. I always feel amazed of the warm feeling and friendly spirit of this forum. It's amazing the fact that all of us are here to learn and to share all our knowledge.

In reading the replies on this topic, it started me thinking...What would GMC be like without the forums? Imagine just having the lessons posted, with none of the options that the forums make available. That would in my opinion not be nearly as helpful or as instructive as it is now. The lessons are great, but combined with the forum where we can communicate with each other, it pushes GMC to new levels of awesomeness Totally agree with what the fireball said about being professionals. I have been on numerous gaming forums where the main thing that gets tossed about is insults, and GMC is by far the best most friendly forum I have ever been involved with. Evn though we may not always agree with each other, we respect each other as musicans and artists. This is the greatest strength of GMC, namely, the people, instructors and students, who make this forum what it is.

+1 Gabe, you are a veteran! I am curious, was this place always like this? Yes, and he probably has the battle scars to prove it |

+1 Gabe, you are a veteran! I am curious, was this place always like this? hahah yes I am! Well, the positive and warm atmosphere has always been the main characteristic of GMC Forum. Everybody has been always friendly and helpful with other GMCers. In those times we didn't have all the cool features like Rec, Collaborations, Wiki, Cartoons, Bonus, VideoChats, etc... So, I have to say that the site grow a lot and becomes better and beter every day. However this place has always been a magnet of positive people. Let me know if you want to know any specific thing about the old days... -------------------- My lessons

Well, the question got born out of my love for history I always had this thing in me saying: 'What was happening here a long time ago/ How was it here a long time ago?' So that's why I asked - out of sheer curiosity I feel like an old man that has a store in the city and sees the people coming and leaving, growing, making friends, learning to play guitar, starting his bands, making their first gigs, their first studio sessions... here we have a virtual place where we share our real lifes.. and the most amazing thing for me is when some guys or instructors of the site have a meeting in any part of the world (like you and Ivan, Kris with Marcus, Lian and Me, and many others). It's cool to see here how our friendship can become real. -------------------- My lessons
