Hey guys! We all have lots of responsibilities and we also have to relax of have fun... however we always find time to do music because we love it... I would like to know... how much time do you have for music every day?

That's a good question, For me the question is How much time do you MAKE for music every day. I have quite a busy life but I still waste time doing unproductive things, when I could be practicing.

I'm sure if others put their daily schedules up, it would shame me. I really need to give myself a timetable to stick to of chores etc including guitar practice. I'm going to try for a minimum of 1 hour a day from now on.

yeah, doing unproductive things is something very difficult to avoid... because we always need to stop thinking and have some fun... it is important to our mind too.. so it's difficult to decide which things are productive and which things aren't..

yea good topic.... It's Hard to spend as much time as you would like, there has to be a balance indeed.

I have a 6 month old Son, full time job etc, so I am getting about 2 hrs in a day...not everyday, some days just an hour.
I sacrifice time with social life to play....and currently depriving myself of sleep...stay up late and play guitar, is a great idea...until the following morning when the alarm is going off....I almost smash it every morning.

This is why I would like to win the Lotto, a few million would be good, hire a Nanny, quit my job, and just play guitar....ah if only

I'm happy if I can get an hour or hour and a half of practice every day. Trouble is, I keep introducing more licks that I want to practice so the time goes up !! laugh.gif

You mean listening to various music? Well, not much to be honest, maybe half'n'hour per day at home I listen to something, but it's mostly music that I work with..

Since I got back into guitar a few years ago, I've been able to spend about 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day. I'm definately getting better, but slowly. Not sure if that's enough to become the next Petrucci tongue.gif but still able to make progress and play some cool sounding stuff.

It varies from week to week, but generally I like to try and get about 4-5 hours a day of actual playing, ear training, and composing or learning songs. The rest of the day I almost always have some sort of music playing in the background while I'm doing other stuff, and I find that sometimes listening to music can be as important as practicing it.

Do you mean you rehearse with your bands about 20hrs a week or 20hrs for the whole lot combined ?

If so, 20hrs for band rehearsal is an outstanding dedication and I take my hat off to you ! ohmy.gif

Well, there are about 2-3 rehearsals with both bands each week -> so 6 rehearsals all in all let's say although it's not always like that. 3-4 hrs at each rehearsal makes about 20 hrs a week for both bands together smile.gif we're sharing the same manager, so at least I know we won't have trouble with superposed gigs laugh.gif
